Here is a strange one for you. I was doing some cleaning/updating of my text directory. I have a total of 30 or so random*.msg files (in sync CTRLA format)still
and I moved them to "/sbbs/text/menu/random" directory which this may have caused it in the firstplace, did'nt think about that. but anyway, I moved them to this directory temporarily just to make it easier to navigate my txt files and update them in SyncDraw, I logged into the BBS with the files
in the ../text/menu/random directory and it segfaulted the bbs in the login sequence right when it is time to load the random* files. So I presume it is loading a that directory as a file and crashing.but
I'm sure it's something that will not happen ever again with anyone else,
thought you should know :-)

Interesting. Did any of the files that were moved have any of the native filenames for a new installation of the BBS?to
I can't think of the names to provide as examples, and I have no access
my system at the moment.
I'll try to reproduce it some time. A bug (issue) report at gitlab.synchro.net would help me to remember to do that.
Also, anytime SBBS segfaults (assuming *nix OS), it'd be very helpful (likely save me a lot of time) if you could provide a backtrace of the crash: https://wiki.synchro.net/howto:gdb

I was able to reproduce this very easily and I have updated the git report with a backtrace.
