When I run dyndns.js, i get this error:

I checked modopts.ini and the user name and password listed there are. So, I logged into vert thru Syncterm using the same user name and password, and i get
in just fine. Any ideas as to why the same user name and password would work when I log in manually, but not when I try to run it thru dyndns.js?

How are you running dyndns.js? What command-line arguments are you passing to it?

dyndns.js doesn't take a user name or password from modopts.ini, so I'm not sure what you're refering to. The login id (user name) is by default, your system's QWK-ID ("GEO"?) unless you override that with the '-hn' command-line option. The password to use is always passed as the first command-line argument to dyndns.js.

The default configuration of the DYNDNS timed event (in SCFG->External Programs->Timed Events) works for the vast majority of Synchronet sysops, so if you're making changes to this pre-configured event, maybe explain why.

I ran into something similar and it was due, to having a % (percent sign) in the password. It gets evaulated when passed via the dyndns.js, so you
can escape it I believe by using %% in modopts.ini or change the password.

I changed my password and everything has worked since.

dyndns.js doesn't read the modopts.ini file, so I think I was confusing qnet-ftp.js with dyndns.js in our discussion. Anyway, I'll update dyndns.js to optionally read the password from modopts.ini [dyndns] section, in case this issue ('%' in password) arises again.

Yes, I misspoke when i referred to modopts.ini. I meant sbbs.ini. However, echicken helped me last night. I haven't had a chance to see the result as of yet.
